Hi All,
I haven't been active with this post for some time, but I am the Great Grandson of Daniel Lynch who lost a leg in the battle of Spanish Fort, AL about two weeks prior to the war's end. I had corresponded some years ago with Robert Braun, but have been unable to re-connect with him. He was quite helpful and informative about the history of my relative. Can anyone tell me how to get ahold of him and if he's gotten his book, a history of the 33rd published yet?
Anyway, I'm glad to be back and will try to check in from time to time. Members who want or need to email me can do so at: lsjegan@q.com.
I appreciate whatever information I can get. My best to you all.
Sincerely,
James Egan

My great-great grandfather, Dr. Edward E. Berry (1829-1916), was hospital steward and, on occasion (Vicksburg), asst. surgeon of 33rd. His civil war diaries were stolen from our house 4 years ago, but I recall his entries for Spanish Fort. He wrote a brief account from the perspective of the field hospital, mentioning the large numbers of wounded passing through. He likely assisted in the removal of your great grandfather's leg.
