Arthur Robinson, who enlisted from Orfordville in Company "E" published three editions of his memoirs in his later years. This is a copy of the first edition of his recollections. Printed on cheap paper and distributed by Arthur himself, it is the rarest of the three editions.
He revised, refined and republished his memories as "Memorandum and Anecdotes" in a second edition... which is the most common version found. His third edition was a redux of the second, with more "poetry" and a poignant dedication to his brother, a fellow Co. E man who pre-deceased Arthur at the Wood, WI "Soldier's Home."
As the Thirty-third published no regimental history. Robinson's "Memorandum" and similar personally published monographs sufficed as the only recollection of the Thirty-third's service for more than 75 years.
A word of caution... Robinson surely wrote from some kind of wartime letters or journals, and his own failing memory. There are enormous historical flaws in "Memorandum," however the "anecdotes" part (sprinkled throughout the text) appear genuine enough.
Best of luck to whomever secures this tract!
Bob.
