Greetings, I just came across some information that may be useful to those who are interested in fine tuning their civilian impressions and knowledge of material culture. Below is a link describing the second annual Midwest Civil War Civilians Conference schedule and offerings. Bill Christen is presenting a talk on the transition from military to civilian impression, which may be very interesting. I know spending $100.00 may be a bit steep for most of us just to hear one day of topical discussion, but it is at least worthy of consideration. Being that the conference is in Crystal Lake, Illinois, it should only be a few hours away from most of us. Sorry Matt…I know PA and IL are not considered a Sunday drive. www.historic-impressions.com/midwest_conf.htmHard Heads, Tom Klas

Hey Tom, Thanks for the heads up on the conference- looks very informational. As much as I wish it were, PA to IL (but most importantly Wisc!!) is not a "Sunday drive" as you pointed out. Bully to any who decide to go though! Perhaps Mr. Voss could attend and fine tune his run-away circus performer impression, or whatever it is he's doing these days Pards, Matty

Greetings Guys,
For those who were interested in this conference but could not attend, our messmate Jon Droska does have some good information to report back to us regarding civilian impressions. He will be at our Feb 22d meeting to share the wealth.
